VO2max and Lactate Threshold Testing
You're probably reading this page because you've already read this one and you want to make the best use of your training time by exercising in the optimal zones.
I have a Korr CardioCoach Plus Fitness Testing Machine that offers both VO2 and metabolic rate testing capabilities in one unit.
The VO2max test can be administered in less than one hour and gives the athlete:
- Aerobic Threshold
- Anaerobic (Lactate) Threshold
The test can be performed either on the treadmill for running or on a Computrainer for cycling. In addition to the report generated by the system that gives the athlete's heart rate at AeT, AT and VO2max, we also give the athlete a chart of either the running pace or cycling power represented by each of these thresholds that will enable the athlete to perform pace- or power-based training.
Once we have this data, we can also produce training plans that are unique to the athlete and can perform a dynamic bike fitting such that the athlete can find the position on the bike that allow them to maximize their power output for a given level of effort.
